Some good news!!

We have received a grant from Animal Rescue Foundation Ltd (registered charity number 1127707). This is to be put towards the preparation of a separate and ‘dedicated’ contained area for dogs in the new Isolation Unit. It will enable free running exercise to aid recuperation and reduce any anxiety whilst they wait for the ‘all clear’ health wise. THANK YOU Animal Rescue Foundation Ltd for supporting Stokenchurch Dog Rescue

Cleaning up and getting chummy

We have a good team of staff but regularly need volunteers to help us to clean our recently modernised kennels and to get chummy with our dogs as the interaction makes their lives happier. It means they stand a better chance of finding new homes. A happier dog is a friendlier dog. We have volunteer walkers who take dogs for a stroll up the road into Stokenchurch or down the road to fields and woods. It works very well. Sometimes they can just take a dog to one of our paddocks. Our staff like to concentrate on training our dogs and to do that better we welcome people prepared to call in for perhaps an hour or two to help with the cleaning. It is also a great chance to meet the dogs and make a fuss of them. We try to rehome our dogs but also have a fostering scheme. A dog is placed with a volunteer for a while and we pay all vet bills, supply food - and lots of advice. Helping our dogs is a great new year resolution. Anyone interested in offering any sort of help should contact our dog welfare manager, Alan Durrant, or our administrator, Lisa Morley on 01494 482695, for a chat.

Little Shop welcomes more customers

A little shop selling some of the best of the items donated to us for jumbles sales has been doing well since it opened in September 2008 - but some supporters may not realise it's there. During 2011 alone it raised about £3,500. The shop is in a room just off our reception hall and sells 1001 things, including clothes which have become a new feature. Some top label items are there, plus all sorts of bric a brac, books, household goods, pictures, pet goods - and lots more So, next time you visit the kennels come and see our shop. There are bargains galore.

Ruby - a gem of a supporter

SDR supporters should give thanks to a pensioner and the manager of a High Wycombe store who came to our rescue just before our summer fair in July.
