Cleaning up and getting chummy

13th December '10

We have a good team of staff but regularly need volunteers to help us to clean our recently modernised kennels and to get chummy with our dogs as the interaction makes their lives happier. It means they stand a better chance of finding new homes.

A happier dog is a friendlier dog.

We have volunteer walkers who take dogs for a stroll up the road into Stokenchurch or down the road to fields and woods. It works very well. Sometimes they can just take a dog to one of our paddocks.

Our staff like to concentrate on training our dogs and to do that better we welcome people prepared to call in for perhaps an hour or two to help with the cleaning. It is also a great chance to meet the dogs and make a fuss of them.

We try to rehome our dogs but also have a fostering scheme. A dog is placed with a volunteer for a while and we pay all vet bills, supply food - and lots of advice. Helping our dogs is a great new year resolution.

Anyone interested in offering any sort of help should contact our dog welfare manager, Alan Durrant, or our administrator, Nigel Rose on 01494 482695, for a chat.
